This match report will ask more questions than it answers. What, for example, was Matt's hat and sunglasses combo all about? Why was the opposition goalie wearing a harlequins top and shorts from the 80s? Has football ever seen a wider age gap between a right back and a left winger? Have we played worse and scored as many. Oh...and what was the score anyway? Estimates vary from 5-2 to 7-3 so I will try and piece together what happened;

This was a hastily arranged match due to fixture-knack and it brought a different looking Dynamos from the side we beat comprehensively in November at Canterbury High. Dynamos arrived with only 9 players and a boy who was pressed into action due to lack of numbersHe wasn't the only youngster on display. One floppy-haired, fresh-faced lad was prompting and competing well in the centre of midfield and another who was 18 (this was confirmed to me after my wildly inaccurate estimate of 'about 17') looked quite lively on their right wing. Having lent them Steve Woollcott for the first half, play got underway. With less than 3 minutes on the clock, CCFC won their first corner which resulted in the opener from what looked like a soft own goal. Possibly because of the presence of the boy on the pitch and the soft nature of the goal, CCFC switched off and played sloppily for the remaining 87 minutesHowever we managed to score the following goals:

Fred - two headed goals, one characteristically combative from a corner

Dave Reed - a beautifully lofted chip over the keeper from the edge of the area

Steve Jones - a blaster from the right that eluded the clutch of the goalie

Darren's goal which he said if I described it as a "left foot wonder strike from the edge of the area" I would be entitled to some free plastering of my choice (terms and conditions apply)

We conceded two goals from - let's call it sloppy over-elaboration - at the back. One from a square pass along the back line which was easily intercepted and finished coolly by their striker and another where we were inexplicably heading back towards our own goal when the ball was taken and despatched passed Ader.

Despite a good goal tally and some good finishing from Fred, Dave, Darren and Steve, the performance was sloppy and our passing was poor. Next up are the Hughin Vikings (don't worry, they're not real Vikings, its just a name).
